The 1994 view of downtown Nashville is truly a picture of an exciting and progressive city! The many structures depicted by Phil Ponder produce a comfortable blend of older skyline elements and the newest additions in the lower Broadway area.

The extended block on the far left features the Tennessee State Capitol, the Nashville City Center and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. In the foreground is the Nashville Convention Center and a representation of the Nashville Arena as it will look when completed in 1996.

The next section (between Fourth and Fifth Avenues) is home to the Third National Bank Building, the Life and Casualty Tower and the Ryman Auditorium (with a new expansion to the right). The new Country Music Hall of Fame will be consturcted in the immediate foreground.

First Union Tower occupies the mid-point of the presentation. Its new neighbor is the beautiful headquarters for South Central Bell…the tallest building in Tennessee. Shelby Street Bridge begins in this block.

The two blocks between Third Avenue and the Cumberland River (out of sight on far right) are experiencing a great transfusion of excitement. Hard Rock Cafe, Wildhorse Saloon (Gaylord) and Hooters are recent additions to a growing list of prominent dining/entertainment facilities to locate in the Market Street area. At the top of the hill is the Davidson County Courthouse.

There is definitely new life and new magic in Music City!
