Originally from Ukraine, Lyana Chalk says the birth of her son caused her to leave the “black and white palette” of the news-agency world and led to her discovery of “a powerful splash of color [and] creativity.” She Switched from “doodling and reporting serious news stories” to “writing fairy tales and recreating her cozy world on canvas.” Often her work is “illuminated by lanterns, street lamps and whimsical lights.” reminding her of her travels through Asia and Europe.
