This Gateways view by Phil Ponder is the scene from the Silliman-Evans interstate bridge as it spans the Cumberland River to the East of downtown Nashville. In the foreground are the river and the new Gateway bridge opened for vehicular use in the Spring of 2004. Beyond that is the Shelby Street Bridge which underwent a complete restoration and reopened for pedestrian only trafic in August 2003.

A major part of the Nashville skyline is potrayed beyond the bridges and on the left bank of the Cumberland. Featured structures are the Sheraton Hotel, BellSouth, US Bank, L&C, and TPAC buildings. Many other styles, materials and colors are represented in the cityscape of the downtown scene.
