"The Legend of Eric Page"
Eric Page was not his real name. As a boy, Melvin Lattimore grew up listening to Eric Clapton and jimmy Page every chance he got. He got his first guitar, a Sears Silvertone Hollow Body Electric, for his Christmas present when he was twelve years old. Melvin spent every waking hour plunking away on it trying to figure out how to play his hero’s music. Schoolwork, chores and any social life disappeared into his bedroom, sitting on the bed, learning new chords. By the time he reached seventeen, he was sought after by other teens to play guitar in their garage bands, and playing local gigs like the bowling alley, and roller rinks in town. Melvin finally reached “stardom” when he turned twenty one, while playing with a group called “The Cesspool Sinatras”, when a local DJ invited them to play on the local music/dance cable show. Well Melvin let it go to his head and changed his name to Eric Page. Sadly a month after the Tv appearance, The Cesspool Sinatras disbanded and Melvin spent the rest of his days working for the Lick Skillet Kentucky Piggly Wiggly, never achieving that level of stardom again….
