To capture the architectural splendor of Nashville's rejuvenated UNION STATION, this 1987 print portrays the front of the famous structure along with East side (with covered entrance) and West side. Each face is captured in a "straight-forward" approach so the viewer can more fully appreciate the different views of the facility that was completed in 1900.
This distinct building was a major hub for rail transportation for many years...but fell on hard times as airplanes replaced trains as the popular public travel service. Fortunately, with the help of several different government assists, efforts of "devoted fans" and campaigns by local organizations, Union Station was restored to its splendor of years past. It "enjoyed" a grand re-opening in December 1986 as a fashionable hotel and home for enjoyable dining, sight-seeing and shopping experiences. Many of the visitors are reminded of special occasions and events that they witnessed at Union Station.
