Tom Gatlin is a Nashville native, and currently resides in Old Hickory, TN.
He began a career in commercial photography in the late 1980′s, developing a specialty in the photography of architecture and interior design.
His work in this field has appeared in numerous publications, both regional and national. His book credits include “Designed For Worship”, which chronicles church architecture in and around Nashville. He is currently working with a local architecture firm on a book commemorating the firm’s 100th Anniversary.
Tom’s original interest in photography began as a hobby, photographing black & white nature and rural scenes. He now uses black & white infrared as a medium of choice for these subjects, with an emphasis on capturing the natural landscape.
Tom’s fine art black & white photography includes a collection of Florida landscapes entitled “Natural Florida”, and a botanical plant series. He sees black & white infrared as an art form in itself, and uses its unique qualities to capture light and texture in his natural subjects.
Aside from a few classes at Nashville Tech early on, Tom considers himself self-taught in all aspects of photography.
